walkthrough
Zero to agent in your pocket.
Five steps, about five minutes of real work. Videos are being recorded — the written version of each step is below, and the docs go deeper.
1 Buy sshai & grab your license
- Checkout asks for your GitHub username — that's how you sign in later to retrieve your license anytime.
- The confirmation page shows your license key and your personal install command. That page's link never expires.
- Anytime later: sign in with GitHub or Google to see your key again.
2 Put Tailscale on your phone
▶video coming soon — tailscale app setup, ~1 minute
- Install Tailscale from the App Store, sign in with Google/GitHub/Apple (free plan).
- That's your private network — sshai is only ever reachable inside it.
3 Run the installer on your server
- SSH into any Ubuntu/Debian box (a $5 VPS is plenty) and paste your install command.
- It validates your license, installs Tailscale and prints a login link — open it on your phone and approve.
- Pick your coding agent from the menu (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini, Kimi, or type your own); it's installed and, if new, opens its login right there.
- The installer ends by printing your server's tailnet address, like
100.84.12.7.
4 Connect the app
- Install the sshai iPhone app, open Settings → Add server: give it a name ("vps") and the address from step 3.
- A session called
mainis already waiting. Tap it — you're in your terminal. - More machines? Add your Mac, your homelab — each becomes its own section in the list.
5 Daily driving
- Sessions: one per project. + creates, swipe kills, long-press renames.
- Windows: the ⧉ button lists a session's tmux windows — agent in one, tests in another. Tap to switch, + to add.
- Key bar: esc, ctrl, shift, arrows, paste — customize in Settings → Action keys.
- Scrolling: just drag. It scrolls the agent's transcript, not your prompt history.
- Close the app, lock the phone, fly somewhere. Everything is exactly where you left it.
